We are an import business based in Japan - we import from dozens (eventually hundreds) of manufacturers overseas into Japan and we Wholesale and Retail to customers in Japan. We also ship overseas from Japan.
We receive orders from various formats and need to send these orders to our warehouse and keep track of inventory, billing and payments, purchasing, back orders, special orders, pricing of imported products, updating of new products and products that go out of production, expenses, etc.
Currently we have no automation and do this all manually in excel and we have reached our limit.
I have considered Access and online options but I feel Filemaker likely offers the best solution.
We currently do not even own the software so it will be completely from scratch. I can provide many documents we regularly use so that you may create the right templates such as our invoices (currently done manually on Excel each time), order sheets, customer lists, product lists, etc.
Most of our customers (currently) are Japanese. The Filemaker users will mainly be our staff (approx 2 to 4), our warehouse for importing certain shipping information, and perhaps our suppliers who can update product information for example.
